Toy Story fan theory about Andy's ma blows minds all over the internet

Heads are exploding from here to infinity, and beyond.

FAN THEORIES ABOUT films are plentiful on the internet these days but one incredibly well thought out and researched Toy Story one is sending the internet into meltdown.

John Negroni – who has an entire website dedicated to the theory that all Pixar films are set in the same universe – alleged that the true identity of Andy’s mammy in Toy Story would “blow your mind”.

Luckily for him, it did. It REALLY really did.

In piece posted on his website over the weekend, Negroni revealed that one of his “anonymous Pixar Theory Interns” – don’t worry, even he scoffs at that one – came to him and suggested that Andy’s mam was actually the little girl who’d given Woody’s gal pal Jessie away.

I laughed. I then agreed.

Negroni said he took a closer look at the Toy Story trilogy and noticed some startling evidence: Andy’s cowboy hat was nothing like Woody’s, but it was the spitting image of Jessie’s, minus the white ribbon.

Cast your mind back to that utterly heartbreaking Toy Story 2 scene where Jessie’s given away and you’ll discover that the cowgirl hat was probably the only piece of memorabilia the doll’s owner didn’t part with.

In the donation box that Emily puts Jessie in, we don’t see the hat. We do see other remnants of her connection with Jessie, but the hat is noticeably absent. The box isn’t even big enough to hold it. So Emily held onto that hat…and maybe passed it on to her child, who would grow to also love a cowboy doll.

Negroni presented further pieces of evidence to back up this theory – which you can read in full right here – and it was eventually picked up by MoviePilot.com, who brought the piece to a wider audience.

Some were seriously impressed.
